The tests in this directory deal with makewhatis(8), apropos(1),
and the mandoc.db(5) database format.

Subdirectories are organized as follows:

 * binedit, dbm_dump, makeinodes, and mlinks
   C programs for low-level manipulation of mandoc.db(5) files.
   Each one comes with its own manual page.

   The dbm_dump utility is special in so far as it reaches around
   for dbm.o dbm_map.o into the main usr.bin/mandoc build directory.
   It is also useful outside the regression suite for low-level
   inspection of mandoc.db(5) files.

   The mlinks utility is provided for the benefit of OpenBSD subprojects
   such as OpenSSH that do not want to use MLINKS on OpenBSD but have
   to provide MLINKS on some other operating systems.

 * man
   Very small example manual pages to be used by the following tests.
   They are essentially used as input data, but the way they are used
   is much more complicated than a one-to-one relation of input files
   to tests. Most input files are used by multiple tests, and most
   tests use multiple input files, and many tests do much more than
   just manipulating input files.

 * out
   Files containing desired test output. Most of these belong to one
   specific test, but some are used by more than one test.

 * makewhatis
   Tests for makewhatis(8) command line options.

 * run
   Tests of low-level database format features, testing both valid
   and invalid binary syntax, testing that makewhatis(8)
   correctly generates databases, and testing both apropos(1)
   output and apropos(1) error reporting.
